 The bar code structure must be interpreted and split into contained fields (like labeller, article, lot, serial) if it should be used within applications.
The Open Source project ParserIO is one solution for this step which supports HIBC Codes. |

HIBIScan 4.1 may create sets of serial numbers |

HIBIScan, the support program for HIBC supplier codes is available as version 4.1 in the member area.
The batch assistent may be used to create a set of codes with consecutive serial numbers. To use this functionality, the number of serial numbers per input table row may be specified. |

Edifice has published the Set Label Guideline of the electronic industry. The data of subproducts contained in a set product may be exposed by one matrix code symbol.

NWD Group wins HIBC Innovation Award for PaperEDI |

NWD Group wins the HIBC innovation award 2011 for their solution Paper EDI.
As the first wholesaler in the dental sector of healthcare, the NWD Group implemented Data Matrix code on all delivery notes and introduced it to the customers as add on service for beneficial use. This is the first time that a company like the NWD Group offers its customers scanning the delivery papers for complete batch documentation in a second instead of time consuming manual entries. The new method is supporting required tracking & tracing throughout the supply chain up to the patient.

The joint working group Barcode & RFID informs about important innovations, which concern manufacturer and user in hospitals and medical practice. Currently, there is demant to discuss the detailed requirements of FDA, EU and GHTF for unique identification of medical devices.
The themes are also the extensions of the HIBC bar code standards, the use of the unique identification mark (UIM) following HIBC & DIN standards, as well as efficiency improvements through solutions based on· "HIBC PapierEDI" delivery notes .
Users report on ground breaking Barcode strategies in hospitals and many years of quality management in surgical practice, supported by automated data collection using "Barcode ".

HIBC-Emblem to unique Bar code |

The HIBC Emblem was release for optical user guidance. The emblem contains the text "HIBC" and may be placed horizontally or vertically beside the code symbol. The HIBC emblem is specially useful if there are multiple codes on one packing.

US Law for UDI expedted in spring 2011 |
|

A regulation by law for Unique Device Identification (UDI) is attended in spring 2011. This concerns specially manufacturer of medical devices, distributors and hospitals which operate in the US or internationally. The FDA motivates to start implementing the UDI if not already done. Unique patient code following ISO/IEC 15418 |

The comitee charged by ISO/IEC 15418 by the maintenance of the data identifiers (DI) has accorded the request of EHIBCC TC to register the DI "(25H) Global unique Personal ID". Unique Identification Mark (UIM) Standard DIN 66401 final |
|
|
|
The Standard Comitee DIN NA 043-01-31 AutoID has raised the preliminary standard "DIN 66401 – UIM" to an aproved standard in october 2010. Small Datamatrix Symbols are defined to contain unique Healthcare Codes (HIBC) and unique serial numbers. Typical size is 3x3mm. Typical applications include chirurgical instruments and veils which must be identified individually.

Update of the registration procedur for medical products in Turkey |
|

|
Under Turkish law of 2008 it is mandatory to register medical products with the national data base "UBB (Ulusal Bilgi Bankas1)". At the starting time a product was to register once just by one selling company only. One company was responsible to get the list of products sold in Turkey in the data base independently who sold it and how many companies are selling it too. Since it was difficult to maintain the data base if more than one company sold this products having been registered by one of the companies, the procedure has been updated.
